Rows of offset ovals cover the surface from top to bottom, each one a small raised loop surrounding a recessed center. Up close the pattern reads almost biological — like scales, or cells, or the eyes of a feather. Stepped back, it becomes a dense, rippling field of light and shadow that changes as you move around it.

The form itself is distinctive: wider at the top than the base, with subtly faceted sides that give it a squared-off silhouette rather than a simple cylinder. A matching saucer is cast as part of the set.

Every Hammerly Ceramics piece is made by Curt and his team in his home studio near Denver, Colorado. Each design begins in 3D modeling software, is printed as a physical prototype, and used to create a custom plaster mold system. The HC logo is cast into the bottom of every planter. The cast pieces are then hand-cleaned, fired, glazed, and fired a final time in a computer-controlled gas kiln where the glazes come alive. 

The result is high-fired, glazed porcelain: strong, non-porous, and built to last.
